Alicia Mulliken is the “secret sauce” that makes vacationing at the Lodgings at Pioneer Lane so special. Although she and her husband, Hugh, started the lodgings in 1999, Alicia’s family ties to Door County started long before the Lodgings was launched. In 1906, Alicia’s grandparents, Oscar and Martha, started Wilson’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor. Not only did Wilson’s become a frequent stop for Alicia and her family during their Door County summers, but it planted a seed that created generations of Door County entrepreneurs in her family.
Therefore, following in her family’s footsteps, Alicia and Hugh started the Lodgings as a small experiment with limited availability. Eighteen years and counting, they have grown the Lodgings into seven individually named and decorated rooms. With a discerning eye for quality and beauty, and some initial direction from a friend, Alicia has decorated them herself. She is continually on the hunt for new items that will make your stay just a tiny bit better, year after year.
From beginning to end, Alicia is here to ensure you have the perfect getaway. Curious where you should have the perfect breakfast? How about the best way to spend a sunny afternoon? Want to buy some affordable, or not so affordable, Door County art to take home as a memory? Alicia knows it all – and she can’t wait to host you!
